GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Maine Warden Service says a woman from Greenfield Township - you can't make this up - used a bull to prevent a possible theft.
The story is relayed in a monthly report from Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife spokesman Doug Rafferty.
Warden Dave Georgia says that an unidentified woman who lives in the woods in Greenfield Twp. noticed that her wood splitter had been moved from its usual position to a spot closer to the road.
She surmised that someone had moved it so they could come back and steal the thing under cover of dark.
Not wanting to lose the item, Warden Georgia says the woman walked her "black, rather large bull" to the piece of equipment and tied him to it.
He settled down with the hay she provided and waited.
Warden Georgia says the woman's suspicions were confirmed in the night "however the thief(s) got the surprise of their lives and sped off without the wood splitter."
