Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Texans snagged free agent linebacker Joe Mays on Tuesday.

No terms of the deal were disclosed.

Mays had his 2012 season with the Denver Broncos shortened due to a leg injury which landed him on injured reserve. In six games (four starts), he totaled 20 tackles and half a sack.

The 28-year-old Chicago native and former sixth-round pick of the Eagles in 2008 has compiled 128 tackles heading into his sixth pro campaign.

To make room on the roster, Houston placed cornerback Johnny Adams on the waived/injured list.
