MONTEZUMA - Second year head coach Larry Harold returns to lead the Dawgs on their quest for a repeat playoff appearance. Last season Macon County went 4-7 after losing in the first round of the state tournament versus Brooks County.

Harold boats 8 seniors along with 11 returning starters. The majority of those guys are on the defensive side of the ball where Harold thinks should be his strong suit early in the season.

"Last year they started believing later on in the season", says Harold. "We got better every week. Getting to the playoffs was a big step. This year being with these guys for a whole year has been a real advantage to us. In the off season we had 10-20 of our players gain 10-15 pounds of muscle. They've gotten bigger, stronger, faster and understand the scheme and what we expect of them. It is starting to transfer over to the practice field as well."

Macon County won their scrimmage versus Schley County on Thursday night, 14-12. They now look to face on August 30th Dooly County in their opening week at the Grove.
