The25-year-old manwho was struck and killed on Gray Highway early Tuesday is being remembered as a talented performer.

DanielMuhammad, an employee of the Lake Bridge Behavioral Center on Riverside Drive in Macon, was hit by a 2006 Dodge Stratus at around 1:30 a.m., Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

"He was kind of the prototypical spoken word and hip-hop personality," said Jeff Bruce, director of exhibits and collections at the Tubman African American Museum.

"He had a lot of personality," Bruce added. "He was really talented."

Muhammad recently self-published a book on Amazon, Bruce said.

"He performed for us at the Tubman and at local venues ... he was building a reputation and a following," said Bruce.

A 20-year-old woman from Gray was drivinga 2006 Dodge Stratus and hitMuhammad on the south side of Gray Highway, between Walmart's entrance and Woodlawn Drive.

Police say they are still investigating and no one has been charged.

Muhammad performed under the name Poetiq Sibaltia Elimu.
