Rabbi Larry Schlesinger picked up the endorsement of his former rival, Paul Bronson, for the District 2 seat in the Macon-Bibb consolidated government.

Bronson came in third place in the election, forcing a runoff election between Schlesinger who came in first, and the second place finisher, Henry Ficklin.

Bronson said he endorsed Schlesinger because they have similar positions on small businesses, as well as closing the racial divide in the community.

Schlesinger called Bronson a "heavyweight" in the community, and said the endorsement meant a lot because in small communities like Macon, everyone knows one another.

In the September election, Schlesinger got 42%, Ficklin got 39%, and Bronson got 18%.

Larry Schlesinger and Henry Ficklin will face off in the runoff on October 15th.
