An organization that helps women recover from abuse and addiction held a fundraiser to help them with their mission.

The WOW Fest took place at the Abba House in Perry.

Organizers say the event helps fund scholarships for women who can't afford their program.

The fest included live music, activities for children, and a market place.

Program Director Rich Hernandez says the Abba House gives battered women and their children a place to live and gain new life skills.

"It's not about programming. It's about re-programming. It's about teaching them a new way to live, and just doing it God's way," Hernandez explained.

Cindy Barton traveled fromCovington to attend the event.

"This is just another ministry that's taking these women with all of their hurts, habits, and hang ups and just loving them back to redemption and health," she said.

Hernandez says the WOW Fest became an annual event when the Abba House opened it's location in Perry.
