A teen died Saturday after allegedly jumping a fence and swimming in a closed pool.
Baldwin County coroner John Gonzales said it happened around 6 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Pool at Georgia College.
He identified the boy as Tyrique Jackson, age 14. He said the boy lived on Highland Avenue, Milledgeville.
The boy's mother, Shantina Reaves, says her son did not know how to swim.
College spokeswoman Brittiny Johnson said the pool had been locked and closed for the season since late September.
She said Jackson and two other boys jumped the 10-foot fence.
Some college students heard the boys yelling for help around 6 p.m. and jumped the fence to perform CPR.
Gonzales said Jackson later pronounced dead at Oconee Regional Medical Center around 8:55 p.m.
His body was sent to a GBI crime lab for an autopsy tomorrow.
Milledgeville police say the college is handling the investigation.
