Lorra Lynch Jones joined the 13WMAZ family in April 2005. She currently reports and anchors the 5 p.m. newscast with Frank Malloy and Chief Meteorologist, Ben Jones.
Ben is not only Lorra’s co-anchor, but also, her husband. The two married in August 2009, and have one daughter together, Ella Hope. You can watch them on 13WMAZ each fall in a weekly segment called the “Jones Zone.” It’s a friendly competition about their “picks” for high school football games.
Lorra spends the majority of her time reporting on issues related to Robins Air Force Base, which is Central Georgia’s largest employer. She produces a monthly segment featuring its workforce, called “Behind the Lines.”
It’s also common to see Lorra around Houston County, as she spent many years at 13WMAZ focusing on the education system, government and people of Central Georgia’s most rapidly growing community.
Lorra is involved in efforts to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Joshua’s Wish Foundation and The Methodist Home for Children and Youth. She also enjoys hosting the Robins Regional Chamber’s Christmas Parade and Warner Robins Independence Celebration.
Lorra is a proud graduate of the Grady College of Journalism at the University of Georgia. She started her reporting career at KXII in Sherman, Texas, and is originally from Marietta, Georgia.
