Tom George joined the 13WMAZ news team in July 2012 as a Multimedia Journalist.
Prior to coming to 13WMAZ, Tom began his broadcasting career interning for WRC-TV / NBC-4 in Washington, D.C., and later for the Washington Bureau of NBC News. He also reported and anchored for Capital News Service (CNS-TV)'s "Maryland Newsline."
Tom graduated from the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism in May 2012 (Go Terps!) with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish, which also comes in handy when reporting.
While at UMD, Tom's CNS-TV reporting was awarded a National TV Broadcast News Award from the Hearst Foundation as well as regional Mark of Excellence Awards for Best TV News Reporting and Best TV News Photography from the Society of Professional Journalists.
Tom grew up in Columbia, Maryland, but also enjoys traveling and exploring new places. He spent a few of his early years living in England, and in college, spent a semester studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. Now, he's excited to take his talents down South, where he can tell stories important to Central Georgia.
