Kristen Swilley

Kristen Swilley joined the 13WMAZ team in October 2013 as a multimedia journalist.

A Douglasville, Ga. native, Kristen is proud to start her career in her home state. She graduated from Florida A&M University (Go Rattlers!) in Tallahassee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.

During her time at FAMU's School of Journalism & Graphic Communication, Kristen was heavily involved in student media. She served as the weather anchor for FAMU TV20 (now FNN); Editor-in-Chief of her college magazine, Journey; President of the FAMU Society of Professional Journalists; and was one of six students selected to cover the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

She also completed internships with WTXL ABC27, Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers, and The Tallahassee Democrat.

These roles helped her earn the Southeast Journalism Conference's pick for this year's Best Television Hard News Reporter and four Society of Professional Journalists "Mark of Excellence" Awards.

When she's not busy chasing stories for 13WMAZ, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family.

Kristen is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
