The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail announced a new canoe "take out" today thanks to money raised by this year's Bragg Jam Festival.

It will be built below the Porter Pavilion on the Ocmulgee River in Amerson River Park.

The first installment of 10 thousand dollars was presented to Chris Sheridan of Newtown Macon.

The Bragg Jam Canoe Launch will create a recreational area where people can float for almost two hours along the river without leaving the park.

"The money that we receive today will be used for a canoe take out, so that people can enjoy the river side of the Ocmulgee trail along with the land side of the Ocmulgee Trail," said Sheridan.

Construction of the canoe take out is scheduled to begin in January.

Bragg Jam will donate 40 thousand dollars over the next 4 years.
