Sitarah Coote joined the 13WMAZ news team in December 2013 as a multimedia journalist.
She came to Macon shortly after graduating from Georgia State University in Atlanta with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. Go Panthers! Although she was originally born in New York, she grew up in the Stone Mountain area since elementary school making her an honorary "Georgia peach".
While at Georgia State, Sitarah was involved with the television station on campus, Georgia State Television since her freshman year. At GSTV she was a producer, reporter, MMJ, and anchor. She served on the board of the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists Student Consortium (AABJSC), was involved with the Alliance of Women in Media (AWM) and was a member of the Georgia State Honors Program. During her senior year, she interned at WSB-TV where she was able to shadow and learn from the same reporters that she grew up watching.
She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
When she's not reporting, she enjoys traveling, shopping, volunteering and snuggling up with a good book. If you see her out and about, do not hesitate to say hello!
