Sarasota, Florida (WTSP) -- A Sarasota man is behind bars after his girlfriend told Sarasota Police officers he poured hot sauce all over a 3-month old puppy named Gizmo.
Officers responded to a call around 1 a.m. on Sunday from a woman reporting that her boyfriend poured hot sauce all over her puppy. Gizmo the puppy, a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, was having a seizure adn began yelping. The woman's boyfriend Ephrian Myles, became annoyed by the yelping, grabbed Gizmo and poured a bottle of hot sauce all over Gizmo
The hot sauce covered Gizmo's whole body, getting into his eyes and down his throat.
The woman took Gizmo to a nearby fire department for help.
When officers found the puppy, his eyes swelled shut and he was having difficulty breathing until he eventually went limp. Two officers began washing off Gizmo with water and a towel.
Gizmo was turned over to Animal Services and is expected to make a full recovery.
Back at the home where the incident took place, found found a large amount of hot sauce on the floor. Myles told officers he had no idea what was going on and that he had nothing to do with the puppy or the hot sauce.
Myles was placed under arrest, transported to the Sarasota County Jail and has bee charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty.
