Two suspects with warrants in Bibb County were arrested Thursday after they attempted to pass a forged check at the State Bank and Trust in Unadilla.
According to the Dooly County Sheriff's Office, a bank teller at the State Bank and Trust on Pine Street in Unadilla called around 2:40p.m. Thursday to report 4 people at the drive-thu window in a pickup truck who attempted to cash a check that was not theirs. The clerk contacted the person listed on the check, and the person confirmed that check was stolen and not valid.
When deputies arrived on scene, the truck was still there, and deputies began talking to the 4 people inside it. That's when 2 people, Traci Lynne Mullis, age 38 of Macon, and
Donny Lynn Meeks, age 34 of Macon, ran away from the bank.
Deputies caught Mullis a few blocks away behind a drug store, but Meeks was hit by a patrol car.
The Sheriff's Department says, as Meeks attempted to turn around in an alley, he slipped and fell in front of a patrol car, which could not avoid hitting him.
Meeks was evaluated by Dooly County EMS unitis, and then taken to the Macon Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening, according to the Dooly Count Sheriff's Office.
