The Mississippi Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for 2-year-old Maliah Harris, whose infant sister was found dead in the home from which she was taken by her parents.
The child was last seen with her parents, Donald Boyd Harris and Allison Studdard.
Maliah's 7-month-old sister was found deceased in the family's home in Caledonia on Wednesday morning, said Investigator Eric Granderson with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department. Harris and Studdard are the children's parents.
The three left together this morning from the home they share in Caledonia with a grandfather.
Granderson said at this point the deceased child does not seem to show signs of violence.
"The autopsy is pending. It doesn't look like there are apparent injuries," Granderson said.
Maliah is described as a white female child.
Donald Harris, 34, is 5'11" with blue eyes and dark hair. He weighs 201 lbs. Allison Studdard, 31, is 5'7", 107 lbs., and has blue eyes and brown hair. They were last seen in a black or brown 2002 Pontiac Aztec with Georgia license platePGR7927.
Granderson said if anyone sees the couple, not to try to detain them.
"They shouldn't be approached, call the authorities and we'll handle it," he said.
The couple may be headed to Alabama or Georgia, officials said.
Anyone with information regarding Maliah's whereabouts is asked to contact MHP at 1-855-642-5378 or to call 911.
