People who frequent Lake Oconee say they were surprised to learn a body believed to be that of 87-year-old Shirley Dermond was found by a fellow fisherman in the water Friday.
Dale Sessions was there as the body was pulled from the lake.
He says he saw helicopters overhead and boats surrounding a cove about a half mile from where he was fishing.
But he says that won't deter him from revisiting the lake.
"It's scary in this day and time to think somebody could do something like that, but it could happen here as soon as it could happen in Atlanta, New York or Macon or wherever," Sessions said.
Several other fishers expressed concern about the whereabouts of whoever committed the crime, especially those who say they camp nearby.
But most say they feel the lake and surrounding counties are safe and feel this was an isolated incident.
