Ninth grade American Government teacher Dallas Smith is this week's "My Teacher is Tops" winner.

Smith attended Trojan Academy when he was in high school and decided to come back and teach.

"I had some really good teachers and I learned a lot from them. I thought it would be nice for these students to like social studies, too, because it's usually not the favorite subject," Smith said.

"I wanted to write the letter because I wanted him to know how special he is to me," he said.

All of the students we talked to agree: Mr. Smith makes learning fun.

"I like how he's just himself and he just communicates with students in his own way," Aslynn Wacker, a student at Trojan Academy said.

"He makes everything very enthusiastic. Everything he's done in his class has made it fun, and I've learned a lot," Calvin Agular, another student said. "He uses jokes and good ways for you to understand it."

And their principal says it always feels good to know the students appreciate what Smith is doing.

"It lets me know that the students value what the teachers do here,"
