Mary Ann Lue's name will soon be added to what she coined the "Mayors' Walk of Fame."
On Monday, Lue will be sworn in as Mayor of Gordon.
"I'm excited. It's a feeling I've never fathomed," said Lue.
She'll be the first female and African American to hold the position, something she couldn't imagine in her wildest dreams.
"And I know that I'm blessed to have overstepped or made history," said Lue.
There are three top things the Gordon native wants to complete during her four-year term, one of those is revitalizing Gordon Park.
"Improve it with better lighting and seating for the people who like to exercise," she said.
Second on that list is creating a recreation center for kids near the park.
"We don't have the proper or adequate placement for children after school," said Lue.
The Atlanta Business College grad also wants to improve the roads.
"We've had great concerns that we don't want people suing us for repair of their vehicles due to those potholes in the road," she said.
Above and beyond, Lue wants to return her hometown to its original splendor.
"We had jobs, we had more shopping centers, grocery stores," she said.
