Late last week, Laurens County deputies, federal DEA agents, a deputy U.S. Marshal and Georgia Department of Corrections canine teams executed search warrants at 7 residences located in the City of Dublin and in rural Laurens County .
According to a news release from Laurens County Sheriff Bill Harrell, officers discoveredapproximately one kilo of cocaine, valued at over $80,000 when sold in street-level quantities. The investigation also resulted in the arrests of suspects for Trafficking in Cocaine, Conspiracy to Traffick Cocaine, the impounding of 10 vehicles and the seizure of several firearms and approximately $14,000 in cash funds.
Investigation into the drug trafficking network began over 2 years ago as deputies assigned to the sheriff's drug unit began collecting criminal intelligence which revealed a significant drug organization operating in the Dublin area.
Sheriff Harrell said, deputies requested support from the Drug Enforcement Administration during the investigation, whose agents workedwith the sheriff's drug unit to further the investigation.
Those charged with drug violations relating to cocaine traffickingare:
34-year-old Christopher Derrick Duty of Dublin,43-year-old Verdell Goins, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, 42-year-old Michael Derrick Goins of Miami, FL, 38-year old Andre Colita Wright, 34-year-old Anatay S. Kyler, 36-year-old Jerome Kellam, 18-year-old Talvin Watkins, 25-year- old Mario Maddox, 17-year-old Deasia Spikes, 30-year-old Amy Linton and26-year-old Willie Jones, all of Dublin.
The joint local-federal investigation is ongoingand more arrests are anticipated.
