Brandy Woods, a teacher at T.G. Scott Elementary School in Forsyth, is this week's My Teacher is Tops winner.

"She's sweet and nice and she gives me good examples," said Abigail Ivey, who nominated her teacher for the award. "When I walk into her classroom, I know she's going to give me a step up to college."

Woods teaches fifth grade science at T.G. Scott. Once a pharmacy school student, she made the jump to education a few years ago and has not looked back.

"I was going to pharmacy school and lost interest in that," said Woods. "I started substitute teaching, fell in love with it and fell in love with the students. I feel like I'm doing the right thing with my life."

Students raved about the creativity Woods brings to her lessons. She has been known to use games, songs, and even skits to help her kids learn different concepts.

"We do lots of projects and experiments," said Woods. "They really like that [style of learning]. I think it makes it stick in their minds."

13WMAZ junior journalist Logan Arnold reported and surprised Woods with her award.
