With thousands in Central Georgia without power, Monroe County was no exception.

Some residents we spoke to off of Sutton Road said they'd been without power since 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, road conditions were hazardous on roads like Highway 83 as downed trees and limbs blocked parts of the road.

On Sydney Woods Drive, the weight of the ice bent over one tree, blocking a driveway there.

With all the power outages, many Monroe County residents flocked to Waffle House, one of the only places in town still open.

Waffle House stayed open all night even as the power went out.

"They were basically busy all night long, we've done almost a grand on each shift," says Master Grill Operator Liza Brown.

She says the ice storm didn't deter them. "It doesn't matter if you've got a tornado, we're still going to serve you."
