This weekend, there will be a series of events to help a man in Macon get a new wheelchair.

Thirty-year-old Mark Bennett had a brain stem stroke in 2007, and has been restricted to a wheelchair. He now needs a specialized stand-up wheelchair because of recent issues with blood clots in his legs.

His mother, Tammy Singleton, says an issue with Medicaid coverage prevents the family from purchasing the wheelchair. But people in Central Georgia can help through a series of fundraisers in Macon.

There will be a bake sale, silent auction, and a raffle at 106 Gralan Drive on Friday. Then this Saturday, a benefit concert will be held at the American Legion on Thomaston Road in Macon at 7 p.m.
