An entire week of professional tennis is underway in Macon.

Stratford Academy is hosting the Tennis Classic, at the Jaime Kaplan Tennis Center.

Qualifying matches started Sunday, and wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.

Eight singles players, and two doubles teams, qualified for the main draw today.

Madison Brengle is the number three seed in the tournament. She and partner, Stephanie Bengson, won their first doubles match this evening.

Brengle says Macon is a great fit for professional tennis.

"It's nice, you have a different feel than some of the big slams and stuff," said Brengle. "It's a good environment for the spectators. Some of the kids here at the school get to come out and watch, so I think it's good for young kids and smaller towns to get to see a really high level of tennis."

Brengle will begin singles play Wednesday afternoon.First serves are scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m.
