A man told Macon police he was robbed and then shot in east Macon Thursday night.

According to a police news release, it happened around 10 p.m. at Womack and Woolfork streets. That's off the Emery Highway.

The man told officers that he was walking from the Quick Serve gas station when a man with a pistol approached him and demanded money.

The man said he threw his money down and ran, but heard a gunshot and felt the wound in his arm.

He drove himself to the Coliseum Medical Center and called police.
