An amazing pageant is coming to Macon this spring.
The Miss Amazing pageant is a non-traditional opportunity for girls and women with disabilities to show off their talents. The statewide competition, Georgia Miss Amazing, is moving to Macon after previously being held in Marietta.
Annie Dempsey, a State Director said, "We chose Macon as the venue because of the outrageous support that we've been getting from this community."
Dempsey and others behind the pageant were at a news conference on Friday to talk about the competition. Lani DeMello, last year's winner, was also there and explained why she participated in the event.
She said, "It's really humbling to talk to everybody, and they tell me, 'You're awesome, you're great.'"
The Georgia Miss Amazing Pageant will be held on May 9 and 10th at the Macon Marriott City Center Hotel.
