A Macon food pantry will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to the winter weather.
Macon Outreach at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church is concerned about its volunteers. So it will be closing its doors for the next 24 hours to try and keep them safe.
Its sister organization, Daybreak, located on Walnut Street, should be open during regular hours Wednesday as long as the weather permits.
Macon Outreach usually serves 1,000 meals a week to the Macon community.
Executive director, Johnny Hathcock said, "We depend on volunteers, and we just don't want them to place themselves in an endangered situation driving on the roads."
Hathcock says the food service should be open on Thursday during normal business hours.
