Tuesday, the full Macon-Bibb County commission unanimously approved more than $125 thousand in extra funds for the Board of Elections.
That's after a committee vote last week, which initially approved the additional money.
By a vote in this year's legislative session, state and local elections will now be held in May instead of July. Elections supervisor Jeanetta Watson says the extra money will go toward the hire of three more staffers in preparation for that vote.
Last year's elections resulted in chaos and confusion for some voters, who were found to be placed in wrong districts.
Watson says the extra funds and possibly a second early voting location will help minimize those problems.
