The Board of Directors for the Macon Charter Academy announced the opening of the school will be delayed by one year, because of concerns with construction and renovation. According to a press release, it is scheduled to open in August 2015.

The delay is to allow the renovation of buildings and the construction of a middle school to be complete at the same time, as opposed to the original multi-year phase plan. The middle school would have been phased in over a three-year period under the old plan, but the release says the new plan is more efficient for renovation and construction with the project.

There will be a meeting with parents who have completed applications for the school in the auditorium at Central High School Thursday at 6 p.m. The board will present the new renovation and construction plan, drawings of the new campus, and answer any questions.
