Fast food chain Hardee's restaurant returns to Macon on Tuesday.
It's been about 15 years since the restaurant operated here, but that will change at 5 a.m. when Hardee's opens offering its signature breakfast sandwiches and Thickburgers for lunch and dinner.
Hardee's is opening on Gray Highway across the street from Taco Bell in the 1000 block.
"Since we're bringing Hardee's back to Macon, we wanted to pick a major artery," said Richard Parnell, vice president of Empire Restaurants, about why they picked the location.
Empire Restaurants operates 99 stores in the U.S.
The closest Hardee's locations in central Georgia are Warner Robins, Byron and Forsyth.
Some of the offerings awaiting customers Tuesday will be two for three steak biscuits for breakfast and the new Texas BBQ Thickburger featuring smoked beef brisket, mesquite barbecue sauce, jalapeno and onion strips, and melted American cheese, on a charbroiled Black Angus beef Thickburger patty.
All of the buns on Hardee's Thickburgers are baked in house, Parnell said Monday as employees prepared for Tuesday's opening.
Parnell said the store hired 65 employees. "We're always hiring," he added.
Hardee's is joining a block of Gray Highway that certainly doesn't have a shortage of fast food options.
With Taco Bell directly across the street, Arby's, Wendy's, Dairy Queen, Burger King and Krystal are less than a block away.
