This week's My Teacher is Tops winner is a Twiggs County Middle School Math teacher who brings the winning formula of discipline and fun to the classroom.
Renada Woodley said she was surprised when 13WMAZ came through her Math class Wednesday morning, but she was touched when one of her students, Shanterrica Bloodworth, read her the letter nominating her for the honor.
"I am doing something right. I must be doing something right," said Woodley. "I was overwhelmed I was like 'Oh my goodness I am not completely hated by the students they actually, they actually love me.'"
"Because I thought she was a great teacher and she was better than my other teachers and I thought if I made her stand out more," said Bloodworth.
Students tacked histograms in class, but it started with a little fun first. They worked in groups, surveying all the students to complete the assignment. It's that type of interactive work that makes Woodley tops, according to her students.
"But Mrs. Woodley is one of the best teachers we have 'cause she let's us interact and puts it on PowerPoint," said Telan Rucker.
"She'll explain it and let us interact with our friends and talk to each other so that they understand and like help each other out," said Kiersten Wilson.
