Amanda Miliner, a fourth grade teacher from Miller Elementary School in Warner Robins, has been named the 2015 Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Miliner received the honor at the annual Teacher of the Year banquet held Friday in Atlanta.
Miliner is a former Miss Georgia, considered different career paths, but it was volunteering with a Big Brother Big Sister program during college that caused her to change her major to Early Childhood Education.
"Teaching for me, I'm just meant to do it," Miliner explained when she first spoke with 13WMAZ last year.
As Georgia Teacher of the Year, Miliner will represent Georgia teachers by speaking to the public about the teaching profession. She will also compete for the 2015 National Teacher of the Year.
Miliner was one of ten Georgia finalists, and the only finalist from Central Georgia.
