Spartanburg, SC (Sports Network) - Karl Cochran had a game-high 25 points as the Wofford Terriers downed the Georgia Southern Eagles, 71-53, in a Southern Conference matchup at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Lee Skinner had a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds and Spencer Collins chipped in 10 points for Wofford (7-9, 1-2 SoCon) which earned its first win in league play this season.
Tre Bussey scored 12 points as the only player for Georgia Southern (6-10, 0-3) in double figures. The Eagles have lost four of their last five.
At the end of the first half Wofford led 35-29 by shooting 46.4 percent from the field including a 5-of-11 showing from 3-point range. Georgia Southern shot at a 44.4 percent clip but hit just 2-of-8 from beyond the arc.
The Terriers shot 43.8 percent in the second half and held the Eagles to just nine second-half field goals, including misses on all four attempts from distance, to pull away for the win.
The Wofford bench outscored the Georgia Southern reserves 33-16.
