Georgia College did not have to look far to find a new head men's basketball coach..

Athletic Director Wendell Staton announced Tuesday that long-time assistant Mark Gainous will succeed Terry Sellers on the Bobcats bench..

Sellers retired earlier this month after leading the GC program for 21 years.

Gainous served as one of Sellers assistant coaches for the past 11 seasons.

He was an assistant at Shorter College in Rome for three years before moving to Milledgeville to work with Sellers.

Gainous becomes the 8th men's head coach in Georgia College basketball history.
