Four weeks from Thursday night Mercer will kick off its home football season against Reinhardt University.

Head Coach Bobby Lamb says cooler temperatures the last couple of days have really helped the squad ease into these conditioning drills.

But he also got onto the guys a little bit to work to stay on their feet. He says he wants them to be a bit more athletic when they're just in shells and don't tackle one another to the ground.

But Lamb is thrilled about his running back position where he says the coaching staff will have the ability to get a little creative.

"We're very deep at running back. We have Jetarri Donald and Peyton Usher, and everybody knows those two young men from last year," Lamb said. "And we've been blessed to have two freshmen come in, T Mitchell and Alex Lakes. And both of those young men are bigger and stronger. So we have a great mix of big backs, small backs, but we have four guys that we can put in the game and have confidence in from day one."

The guys will transition to full pad practices by later on this weekend.

Mercer says single seat tickets for the Reinhardt game go on sale Monday morning.
