AUGUSTA, Ga. – Bubba Watson pulled away on the back nine Sunday afternoon, beating 20-year-old Jordan Spieth and Jonas Blixt by three shots to win his second green jacket as Masters champion.
Spieth got off to a strong start on the day, going 3 under on the first seven holes. On No. 8, he got into some trouble and was forced to three-putt, settling for a bogey that seemed to turn the momentum.
Watson, 35, won the Masters in 2012. Last year he struggled at Augusta National, finishing in a tie for 54th place. This year he entered the Masters coming off a win at the Northern Trust Open and was second in the Waste Management Phoenix Open and Cadillac Championship.
Spieth and Watson entered the day tied at 5 under with Watson shooting 74 in Saturday's third round. Spieth, who started 2013 without any playing status on the PGA Tour, shot 70 on Saturday.
