Macon had its own little golf tournament brewing this weekend.

The Peach Blossom Invitational wrapped up play Sunday, and two former University of North Carolina Tar Heels entered the day with a big lead. Michael McGowan and Clark Palmer led the field by four strokes before hitting the links Sunday afternoon.

"It's been a great experience," said Palmer. "We haven't played much golf together since college. I think our personalities jell pretty well."

Their play also jelled well on day three of the tournament.

Palmer and McGowan's felt the heat of two Mercer Bears on day three. James Beale and Hans Reimers shot a four-under par 66, while Houston County natives Shawn Hodge and Stan Gann shot a 67.

Those scores were better than Palmer and McGowan's, but not good enough to chip into their lead. The Tar Heel duo took the 2014 Peach Blossom by a two-stroke lead.
