The FPD and Veterans girls battled rain and tough competition but both earned berths in the GHSA State soccer finals Wednesday night.

FPD beat fellowship 2-1 in overtime on the Lady Vikings home field. FPD trailed 1-0 late in the game when Maggie Johnston scored a goal with under four minutes to play to tie the game.

Amy Morgan then scored in overtime to give FPD the 2-1 victory and run the Lady Vikings record to 19-0.

FPD will play Pace Academy Saturday at noon at Emory University for the GHSA Class A State title.

Veterans got a second half goal from senior Shelby King to beat Columbus 1-0 in a rematch of last year's state playoff game won by Columbus.

King scored the goal on her birthday.

Veterans will play Marist Saturday at noon at Kennesaw State University for the GHSA Quad A State title.

FPD, Veterans advance to state title game with home victories.
