A young central Georgia golfer has four big rounds ahead of him here in the peach state.
Karim Muhammad is a 19 year-old from Macon. He's playing for the Honors Championship this weekend at Macon's Healy Point golf course, and after that, the stakes get a bit higher.
Muhammad will play in a qualifier for the U.S. amateur the day after the Honors is finished. The qualifier is in Greensboro, Ga., at Reynolds Plantation.
Karim isn't thinking about that just yet, though.
"I'm just taking it one day at a time. One shot at a time," Muhammad said. "I'm not really going to worry about what's going to happen tomorrow. If I have to go to Reynolds, or wherever I have to go, I'm just worried about the task at hand at that point."
The Honors Championship tees off Saturday, July 19 and runs through Sunday, July 20.
Muhammad plays for a spot in this year's U.S. Amateur on Monday and Tuesday, July 21-22. This year's U.S. Amateur will be held in Atlanta.
