The stakes got higher in little league softball this week.

One of the regional finals played out in Warner Robins Monday morning, where a Georgia team from Columbus played a Virigina team that was yet to lose.

On the line: moving on to the World Series in Portland, Ore.

Georgia had to win twice, due to the double elimination format, and they did just that.

Kennedi Bedell popped up for a walk-off sacrifice fly in game one, which Georgia finished with a 7-6 win. The one-run victory forced a decisive game two.

The next match-up was more lopsided.

Georgia won 8-3, driven by a six-run third inning, and clinched a spot in the Little League Softball World Series.

Their only two losses of the all-star run were against Tennessee in regional play, and against Warner Robins All-Stars in the state tournament.

The Columbus win ends a drought for Georgia softball. It's been four years since a Peach State group advanced past regionals. The last team to do that was Warner Robins' All-Star group. Those girls won back to back titles in the 2009 and 2010 World Series.

They are the only Georgia teams to ever win Little League Softball World Series titles.
