The Braves released second baseman Dan Uggla Friday afternoon ending his career with the team.
The 34 year old Uggla was in his fourth season with the Braves and was in the midst of his worst season at the plate since joining the team from the Florida Marlins.
Uggla was batting .162 with two home runs and 10 RBI in 48 games. He had lost his starting job to Tommy LaStella.
Uggla was also suspended for last Sunday's game against the Cubs for an undisclosed reason.
