He along with Jeff Burton and Joe Nemechek will race Sunday in Speedfest.
Saturday is qualifying and Sunday the guys will race it out over 325 laps on the concrete that stretches about three tenths of a mile.
The coordinators say this is going to be a great race for you to watch because they are going to clear out all of the team trucks out of the pits so you will get a bird's eye view of the entire track.
Ragan says he enjoys spending time back in familiar territory. Plus he figures getting behind the wheel now in a race situation will help him a few weeks from now.
"Well we to come down and have fun but certainly we want to win the race, Ragan said with a smile. "And for me it's kind of knocking the rust off, I've been in the car a little bit but now I can work with my spotter a little bit all of these guys are with my crew but just to have some fun this is a racetrack that is close to home, I spend a lot of my off season in middle Georgia. "
David also spends a lot of time in Charlotte, that is where he and his wife live.
If you want to see the hometown guy and some great racing, The Watermelon Capital Speedway is a quarter mile off I-75 at exit 104.
Racing on Sunday begins at two in the afternoon.
It will cost you $20 to get in the door. They do have discounts for students and will also sell pit passes.
