Part of Highway 96 in Houston County will be closed this afternoon for a movie shoot. The Georgia Department of Transportation expects heavy congestion and advises drivers to stay away from the area during the road closure.

Highway 96 will close at 1:30 p.m. and remain closed until 3 p.m. near Bear Country Boulevard.

The road closure comes as a filming crew works in the area. Local law enforcement will stop traffic for no more than three minutes at a time.

GDOT says in a release that speed limits have been reduced and will be strictly enforced.  Message boards, signs and blue lights will be utilized to alert and channel motorists through the area.

Color Green Films is working on a film about Rich Mullins, a gospel musician who touched thousands across the country.

It's working title is "Rich Mullins: A Ragamuffin's Legay, and it will be a full-length feature film with a budget of $1.5 million.
