ATLANTA — Fresh off the gaming industry hosting one of the largest festivals in the world in Atlanta, the booming film and television industry is back at the center of conversations for residents throughout Georgia.
“The Tomorrow War,” “Lovecraft Country,” Disney’s upcoming “Safety,” and Amazon’s “Underground Railroad” are just some of the productions taking place in Georgia right now.
Here’s a complete look at TV shows and movies currently being filmed in the area!
THE TOMORROW WAR
Production on Chris Pratt’s upcoming sci-fi action film, “The Tomorrow War” is in full swing throughout metro Atlanta.
The star went to social media to reveal the title of the film, after using the working title “Ghost Draft” for several weeks.
And over the weekend, the production left quite the impression on people nearby 30 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd.
Korey Felder, the owner of oAK Atlanta, an upscale social club in Atlanta, was enjoying his routine weekend brunch when he spotted pink smoke, military inspired vehicles, and what appeared to be virtual soldiers filming a scene for “The Tomorrow War.”
“Apparently aliens are invading brunch,” Felder wrote in his Instastory. He later shared military cars roaming the streets while doing takes for the film.
"BONEYARD" is the basecamp code used for "The Tomorrow War".
Pratt also revealed that some of the working titles for the movie that didn’t make the cut.
“World War A,” “Generation Alien” and “Jurassic Draft” were some of the obvious “no’s” for the movie.
"The Tomorrow War" will be released nationwide Dec. 25, 2020.
AMAZON PRIME’S UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
Production for the upcoming Amazon Studios original series “Underground Railroad” continues throughout Georgia.
Last week, we told you about production taking place in Madison, Georgia. On Thursday, one of our viewers spotted trailers for the show in Newton County.
Susan Wages posted the photos in The A-Scene Facebook group. She writes, “Outside of Mansfield. Underground Railroad”.
Several basecamp signs for crew parking are visible in the snaps.
The upcoming Amazon series is directed by Barry Jenkins ("Moonlight," "If Beale Street Could Talk") and is based on the Colson Whitehead book “The Underground Railroad.”
The term is used to describe a network of people and places that assisted fugitive slaves as they escaped slavery in the South.
Some of the cast members include Thuso Mdedu, Chase W. Dillon, and Aaron Pierre, as reported by Variety.
The outlet reports the show will chronicle "one woman’s journey after escaping her Georgia plantation."
Jenkins has been tapped to direct 11 episodes of the one-hour series. This is his first television project.
Production on this series began late summer throughout several parts of Georgia. Back in August, A-Scene Insider Yvonne Lowery saw the basecamp sign “UGRR” nearby Myrtle Creek Farm in Newton County, in the same area of the recent spotting.

SUICIDE SQUAD 2
“EEF” is the basecamp code used for making ‘Suicide Squad’ in Georgia.
We’ve spotted the director James Gunn hanging out with the cast members off set throughout the city of Atlanta.
Poor Calvin’s, which is an Asian fusion restaurant off Piedmont, was the choice for dinning for Gunn, just a few weeks ago.
He posted these photos on his Instagram: You can see Michael Rooker, Pom Klementief from "Guardians of the Galaxy," Jennifer Holland and German Actor Flula Borg. No sign of Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis or John Cena.
The A-Scene found out the eatery is a tradition for the crew. We found this photo of actress Jennifer Holland’s page at the same restaurant back in 2016.
Gunn says he goes for the goat cheese. Last week, the director celebrated actress Jennifer Holland's birthday in town.
After some fall inspired festivities, that apparently included pumpkin carving, Gunn posted on Instagram.
"Safety,” an upcoming movie by Disney, delayed traffic Friday in Clayton.
In a memo posted on the Clayton Police Department Facebook, crews were filming a fight scene around the area of Wilson Alley behind the Main Street Shops.
The scenes took place between 8 a.m. and went on until 5 p.m.
“They will be using movie prop weapons as well and we were told at some point there will be a gunshot using a prop gun. We do have an officer present on location with the film crew throughout the filming,” the memo continued.
Tonya Blessing Brown, a viewer, spotted the basecamp production code "BR," which is short for Blue Ridge, a working title for "Safety".
Corrine Foxx, Amanda Warren, and Todd Allen are all set to appear in the movie.
You can see how it all comes to life when it premieres in 2020.
