BLADENBORO, N.C. — A 4-month-old girl who was the focus of an Amber Alert Tuesday morning has been found safe.

WNCN reports Lounnisha Askew was found and her mother, Juanita Renee Askew, was taken into custody along with her boyfriend after a traffic stop in Lumberton.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said Lounnisha was taken from a daycare near Bladenboro Monday evening by her mother who’s from Whiteville. Investigators said she’s also the non-custodial parent of the child.

Investigators said the mother turned her child over to family members after they talked her into surrendering. However, she then fled along with her boyfriend but they were later both arrested during the traffic stop.
