MACON, Ga. — Macon's Relay for Life isn't until the spring, but preparations are well underway.
At the Elaine Lucas Senior Center Saturday morning, people started fundraising for this year's main event.
Each table had information on the different booths and departments that will be at the event, and shirts were handed out for those who stopped by.
This year, the organization is hoping to join forces with the Tubman Museum to make the event bigger and better than last year.
Debbie Kitchens is the chair for Bibb County's Relay for Life chapter, and she says their efforts are working towards a goal that hasn't been achieved in 15 years.
"$500,000... and that is our goal, and we aren't going to stop until we do it," Kitchens said. "There's too many people out there with cancer, we have got to find a cure."
This year's Relay for Life will be held at Central City Park on April 26 starting at 6:30 p.m.
