Early morning break-in at Wilkinson County store

The thief shattered the front glass window

Ivey Police are investigating after someone broke into a Wilkinson County store early Thursday morning.

Ivey Police Chief Joe Kump says they received a call just before 5 a.m. about a robbery at the Ivey General Store off U.S. Hwy 243.

Kump says whoever broke in shattered the front glass window and stole money from the store.

Kump is not sure how much cash the thief or thieves took, but he thinks it is connected to another robbery that happened overnight in Twiggs County.

Colonel James Faulk with the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office confirms there was a break-in at the Danville Convenience Store between 2 and 3 a.m. Thursday. He could not confirm, however, any connection to the Ivey case.

The investigation is ongoing.
