Jones County deputies arrest man wanted for murder in North Carolina

Taquan Darden was captured Monday by the Jones County Sheriff's Office. He was wanted for Armed Robbery and Murder.

JONES COUNTY, Ga. — Jones County deputies have arrested a man wanted for murder in North Carolina.

According to a Facebook post from the Jones County Sheriff's Office, the call came in Monday morning about a car stolen out of North Carolina heading into Jones County from Baldwin County. The driver, Taquan Darden, was wanted for Armed Robbery and Murder.

The post says deputies began patrolling both the Highway 49 and Highway 22 areas looking for the car, which was found on Highway 49 and confirmed to be the same stolen car from North Carolina. The driver, later confirmed to be Darden, tried to pull into a driveway to avoid a traffic stop. A deputy pulled in behind him and was able to take Darden into custody without incident.

Darden was taken to the Jones County jail to await extradition to North Carolina.
