Two horses found shot to death in Jones County

The shooting happened over Memorial Day weekend and the horses were found days later

GRAY, Ga. — Jones County investigators are looking into the shooting deaths of two horses.

According to Investigator John Simmons, it happened near Highway 18W around the Holloman Road area.

He says the horses were apparently shot on Saturday or Sunday over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The horses’ owner Terry Whitehead found them the following Tuesday on someone else’s property.

Simmons says the horses had a history of leaving their field. He says because of that – and the fact horses can travel long distances are getting shot – it’s unclear where the shooting took place.
