Construction is underway for the new charter school opening up in Macon.

The Academy for Classical Education, also known as ACE, held a "ground-breaking" ceremony Monday.

The building being used was once the General Electric Capitol.

Co-Founder of the school, Esterine Stokes, says they walked through at least 30 to 40 locations before they found this one.

The school is located off Old Forsyth Road next to the newly built Wembly at Overlook Apartments.

Classes for the school will begin August 4.

Renovation is expected to finish by the end of July.
