The Middle Georgia Community Food Bank hosted a pet food drive Saturday for Central Georgia's furry friends

MACON, Ga. — On Saturday, people made sure Central Georgia's furry friends were getting good meals.

The Middle Georgia Community Food Bank hosted 'Paws Against Hunger'-- an event with a goal to collect over 1,000 pounds of animal food for hungry pets.

The pet food drive included a dog walk, contests, and discounted vaccinations.

Community volunteer Jeff Battcher says he wants people to know help is out there for their fur babies.

"I want people to realize that there's people in the middle Georgia community that care, and if you got a dog or a cat we're going to help you take care of that, if you need food for yourself we're going to help you take care of that, so there's a lot of people in this community that care, and if you got a need let us know, and we'll help you out," Battcher said

The event started at 11 a.m.
